Lexus has designed a car that reflects the driver's heartbeat on the vehicle's exterior using biometric paintwork. A Lexus RC F coupe has been modified to visualise the emotional and physical connection between the car and its driver. The company have described it as “the world’s first car with a heartbeat.” In a stunt to promote the model, the car was covered with paint full of phosphorescent substances that shines when it's struck with an electric charge. In order for exterior to reflect the driver's heartbeat, he or she must wear sensors on their body while driving. The project is a joint venture by Lexus Australia and Tricky Jigsaw, M&C Saatchi Australia's creative tech division. The object of said venture was to show “how thrilling the Lexus RC F is to drive.” - Ben Cooper, innovation director at M&C Saatchi, told Mashable We're changing the conversation from top speeds, to talking about what the car does to you emotionally. The car took six months to build and is solely a concept, so don't expect to see it cruising past you on the M6 any time soon. To find out how driving affects the human body, especially the heart rate, Cooper and his team took the RC F coupe on a closed-off track in southern New South Wales. - Cooper We saw first-hand that when you sat in the passenger seat with a professional driver taking you around the track, your heart goes through the roof when he takes that corner.
