jer3
So I already discussed about this with Jaie. He said to post it here because his knowledge doesn't reach to wireless connections. So basically, I'm getting randomly lag spikes basically on every server. The worst lag spikes are on Jay1. It's not a big problem but annoying as hell particularly when I get that spike during a gun fight. I'm using a wireless connection and a WiFi dongle to get connection to my PC.I have /cl_maxpackets 100..Can access to routers settings etc. if needed to..Can someone with a bit more knowledge check this out? Or is it even possible to fix it?Ran WinMTR with default settings except "Resolve names" were off. 10Tacle
Do you also have the issue when you are connected through Ethernet cable directly?

I once had a ~10m cable they do exist, hehe. if you play on laptop, you could move to router and connect it with a cable to do a simple test of connectivity
jaie
Yeah., So I am seeing 3 problems: 1. 1000ms worsts, clearly a problem on his end - but I don't know the method to troubleshoot / fix this. 2. 2nd node average 10-15 ms is higher than next 4 hops - so it can be improved, but I doubt this is noticeable. 3. 80.81.192.164 is dropping 9% - is this his isp's job to fix? I think once problem 1 is fixed, his lag will be much less in game.

jer3
It looks fine now. How does it feel while playing? Also what average FPS can your machine maintain? Regards, xenozbad Have set com_maxfps to 100 and it maintains it in most of maps. And in those maps where it cant maintain that 100FPS, it never goes under 60 FPS... I think those lag spikes have something to do with other family members using internet same time. As I did that last WinMTR there were no other users using connection same time. With wifi there will always be an added delay, so if others are using the connection it will only get worse - especially in a low-bandwidth environment. Personally... my siblings Internet connection mysteriously connects but does nothing while I'm playing ET. Regards. xenozbad
Vanaraud
Don´t know which router you have but maybe you can configure QoS for Wifi, so others don´t hog all the connection and leave 100kb\s at least for gaming. For youtube 100kb\s doesn´t mean a thing but for gaming its connection interrupted.
