Scuderia Corsair

So after gaming for the past two years on a Lenovo X230T (integrated graphics *shiver*), I set up plans to build my first pc. I started out with searching forums and newegg videos---could I do it? I thought that I could (and since I'm posting here, I was right so far :D ). Next, I researched individual parts. What does the CPU do? The RAM? Mobo? Etc. After seeing what each did, I delved deeper and researched brands--AMD vs. Intel, AMD vs. Nvidia, Corsair vs. Cooling Master, and so on.

Then, I actually requested some intro builds from my real life friends, reddit r/buildapcforme, and you guys here! (Thanks so much to everyone who helped :D ) I kept tabs on all of my options for price points between $500 and $750. I ended up with 20-25 builds and I actually didn't go with any of them! Instead, I waited. I kept researching, I watched newegg's deals, and finally during my first week off from school I went on a live chat computer help subreddit. There, a guy showed me a build that I loved and he said "But you better act quick, that mobo is off sale in 12 hours." So, I bought the mobo. It's cheap, but it does the job so far!

Since I had the mobo, I looked for parts that would fit within budget and from a good company. I am partial to Intel, Nvidia, and Corsair, so I tried to make a build with them. To make a long story short, I got my way!

To any new builders out there, a bit of advice:

Watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWkH_8b1Q9Y

Identify the needs of your computer (mine was gaming and CAD programs)

Read up on components

Choose AMD or intel

Nvidia vs. Radeon/AMD

etc.

WAIT for deals, they WILL come.

Always overestimate the cost of the build.

Buy some extra zip ties

If you have a GPU, plug the tv's HDMI cable in there, NOT the mobo.... (Ask me how I know -_- )

Make sure you have a DVI or HDMI cable that FITS into the slot.

Have an OS (many people forget this for some reason)

And the most important thing of all:

TAKE YOUR TIME.

I have yet to install Windows 8 (I need a new HDMI cable first.....), but then I'll be set. Attached are pics on my system--dubbed Scuderia Corsair, and my build found here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3tFPgs

I hope you all like it, I sure do! :D

Sorry for potential repeats, it's hard to keep track of the many pics I took :D

For anyone who was worried that the nub didn't finish it correctly, don't worry, Gaben gave his blessing XD

Nice one. I like it, it's simple and not extravagant.

Did you purchase any cooler later on for that? Or ventilation is enough to cool down your gaming hours?

I was thinking if nvidia gtx 680 can fit that CPU case and be plugged to that motherboard of yours?

any idea of what is its total weight ?

Thanks so much! (to Snake as well!) I don't have enough money for extravagant, so clean was my next choice :P

I bought the extra CM fans (both mounted at the back and top back in exhaust orientation), but other than that I have no need of water cooling just yet. I might need one more fan that blows in between the PSU and the 760, but other than that, my CPU temps are good and the exhaust gasses out the back are cool.

The 680 can almost certainly be plugged into this mobo and the case seems to have more than enough room to fit it. However, I don't think I have enough power to supply the 680. Also, and I'm no expert, but I could imagine this specific mobo not being enough for a gtx _80 series.

I can't say for certain, but it is pretty light! I almost threw it the first time I picked it up because I expected it to weigh more XD

I had like 7 fans in my Corsair r500 and even tried different orientations with front panel ones, really doesn´t make any difference. Hot air has the habit to raise up, so only thing which could cool the case a bit is 14cm fans on top pulling hot air out. I doubt if its wise to waste money on them if you don´t have 2x graphics and OC CPU. About watercooling, well I think I made a topic about it here somewhere.

I don´t think theres any restrictions from motherboard to use better graphic cards but the PSU is a question mark here..

yes, 14cm fans on top have to pull out the air - i agree.

another at least 2 (in my case 5 - 2 front, 2 side, 1 back) pull in fresh air.

the two 14s on top also cool my cpus liquid, since it didn't want that warm air to stream into the case as well.

Sadly I can't fit that many fans :/ But I am about to add some more!
