Silent#1 - Activate Flamethrower self-damage?

The title kind of says it all.  I would like to see the Flamethrower inflict damage to the person using it if he/she is in the flames.  Would this be possible without FF?  And would anyone (Leaders/Silent#1 regulars) agree?

 

Too often I see a player who uses the flamethrower completely disregard the fact that flames are bouncing back at them. They just run thru their own flames while chasing enemies when in fact they should already be cooked to death themselves.

 

A Panzer will vaporize him/herself if a shot is fired too close to someone or something.

An engie takes damage from his/her own land/tripmines.

Nades/r-nades/mortar/etc all also inflect damage to the person using it.

But a Flamethrower takes no damage from his/her own flames. Why? :hmm

 

Anyway, just a thought I had earlier, what do you guys think?

  • It's allowed. Make sure you are not blocking the way of your team.
  • Exception: If you will go in one corner with flamer and ammo to increase your SL rating you will be banned. Be a man and play fair to get your rating. I personally don't care for rating but I have seen many young kids take SL as their only motive to play ET.

Big + 1 sucks when your trying to knife them and they're surrounded by wall of flame that doesn't damage them. Also not sure if this is pertinent but I have had flames jump to me by touching a teammate that is on fire and shooting the flamer while he stands in his flames.

I have mixing feelings. Would be a good idea inflict damage to flamers but they are like pandas, almost extint in game. Only few maps really worth play as flamer like supplydepot, beerrun, etc. Other hand, the run like crazy flaming the room without any regret.

 

Also, many times medics can survive to the flamers, making me think i would be nice increase a bit the flame damage, but at the same time, inflict some damage to users. I dont know id this last is possible but those are my thoughts.

This. Yet it could be a good idea, give it the same system as on Jaymod. :)

but most important thing, self inflict damage from flamer. Or just remove flamer since everytime, friend or foe, everytime my pants catch fire my fps drops down to 3 frames per second...so yeah...(know it will not happen, just wishfull thinking)

I think this would definitely help on Special Delivery when 1 Flamer and a Field Op can defend the controls without ever dying.  I would see the flamer almost make the room seem to be on fire where no one on allies can enter the room.

Noo dont do this to me what i will do when im on axis and il have the flamethrower nooo! hahaha its joking guys........No im agree with all feedbacks we need do something about this
