Seven Years

Just an observational post...

This fall it will be 7 years since COD4 was released.

I'm impressed that a game like this can have lasting play (especially in the fast paced world of video games).

I can't recall when exactly I started playing any of the COD games on my mac, but I know it's been years. 2008 was when it was released for the Mac, and I'm pretty sure that's approx. when I started playing.

How about the rest of you? How long have you been playing COD4?

Are there any other computer games that you have been playing this long?

Also (shameless plug), what gives this game long life in multiplayer, are the people you play with and against - Thanks to FA for providing that opportunity.

PS> WHY, after playing for so long am I not as good as Vyder!? ;)

I have been playing since launch, pretty much. I have tried all the other COD's since COD4, I put in around 10-20 hours and always come back to COD4. Eventually I refused to keep buy worthless upgrades to the game I love, and I will not be buying any future COD's until COD4 dies.

Wow, 7 years! I first bought a PS3 a couple of months after CoD 4 was released and CoD 4 was my first game for it. I played CoD 4 on the PS3 for about two or three years (until hackers took over the console version) and recently came back to it on PC a year ago. It was, is, and (I'm pretty sure) always will be my favorite Call of Duty ever. It's also where I've met some of my best friends! Countless hours have gone into games that I didn't play for the game itself, but because it brought me closer to those around me.

Happy 7th birthyear CoD 4!

and this is why i love Cod 4 MW.
those that play are dedicated to the MW franchise, are my family.
i started playing as soon as it came out. first on Xbox, and then PC.
i cannot play FPS's on Console because i have solely adapted to PC FPS.
i'll keep playing as long as there is a keyboard and mouse.

p.s. it's been 6 years for me

I've been playing since it came out on Ps3, I was actually #16 In the world for score and kills before the hackers took over.

I have been playing this since it's first release on the PS3.  Since buying it on the PC I haven't bought another game - about 5 years.

AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I started FPS games on PC with Rogue Spear in 2000 using a 56k connection.

I think I have been playing COD4 since it's first release on the pc. Now I play on mac. I think the only games I really played on computers are COD 4, GTA SA and Age of Mythology (one of the best strategy games in the world).

But I'm also always amazed by the excitement generated by this game.

PS : I forgot CS my first FPS on pc :P

I've been playing COD4 for about 4.5 years now, and still love it.  It pains me that a successful game like this gets overshadowed by incoming games when it has proven itself to be special, and deserving of new maps, bug fixes, and a make-over.

I dug out my old laptop the other day. On it is the first cod I bought. It was still at version 1 :-). Now I have a mac which is at 1.7. I remember playing cod till the early hours as I just couldn't get enough of it, that was in 2008 if I remember rightly. Then stopped playing until a few months ago when I downloaded it on the mac. Seeing as I can't play Abner on my mac, maybe I'll upgrade to 1.6 and play on my old laptop.

I couldn't believe how popular it still is. Which is a testimony to a great game.
