NotYourEggo Posted June 3, 2012 Share Posted June 3, 2012 Well it turns out I actually don't know hardly anything about building computer so if anyone would be willing to piece together some builds for me that would be amazing and greatly appreciated. I have about a $900 budget (do not include monitor or keyboard / mouse). I know that AMD is much cheaper but I have been told that it becomes outdated quicker. I don't know anything about AMD, ive always run off of Intel but im fine with either. I plan on Windows 7 professional 64 bit for the OS. Other than that I dont have any plans. Be creative. Have fun. beedub Posted June 5, 2012 Share Posted June 5, 2012 You should look at a larger SSD, or at least a regular SATA drive as a secondary. Windows 7 will take about 30 GB of the drive when it installs. Games are getting bigger and bigger too, you will be out of drive space in no time, oh I see that now at the bottom. If it were me I would go with the ASUS board, but Gigabytes are decent too. Bump up the RAM a little if you can afford it, it is fairly cheap. If you need to trim the budget somewhere, go down to an i5 Ivy Bridge CPU, they are still great for gaming. You can always upgrade later if you want to. I am not sure about the VGA, because I build business PCs, but I think this one is pretty good. I will let someone else give you advice on that. My PCs are always built with Intel CPUs and Intel mobos. Very little support and very long life. The boards are higher quality and contribute to a stable PC. That is why service calls and warranty repairs reduced dramatically (almost no-existent) once we started using them; Intel is just not big in the gaming market, but might be worth researching. Before PC prices dropped and everyone had to start using cheap quality parts to compete, Dell and Gateway PCs were built with Intel motherboards (and CPUs of course, AMD was not a big player yet). Also budget for us OS if u don't have one. - I have the same video card (I think) and its pretty sweet. - I would go with a Regular 7200 rpm hdd until the solid states come down a bit more. Also would scale back the bluray drive unless u have plans to watch media from ur desktop. Keep in mind RAM sticks don't really need a heat sink unless you overclock Processor - Perfect SSD - Meh up to you, you don't really need it the 1tb will do, don't know why you would want an ssd to boot up what, 3 secs faster.
