In Windows 7 it has become easier than ever before to tab into Command Prompt if needed, it can be done from any folder or the desktop if wanted. To open a command prompt just press and hold down the shift button on your desktop and right click the mouse and select the "Open Command Prompt here" tab. This can actually be done from any folder, for example if you open your command prompt in your documents folder it will show like this C/user/ so and so/documents.The command prompt in Windows 7 provides access to over 230 command line commands. The commands available in Windows 7 are used to automate processes, create batch files, and perform troubleshooting and diagnostic tasks.

In Windows XP this was also possible, but you had to install a third party program for this to function, now it is possible to open command prompt from any Window where ever and whenever you like.
