Lag problem

1. Internet.

Something is wrong with nq 2.55 IP, i cant do ping to the server; IP is blocked or is not real IP or smth:

With that software didnt get anything, i pressed start and i waited few seconds and nothing. So i used other way (online web based ping) and i cant do ping to the server neither:

Sometimes game servers are not 'pingable', probably their firewall blocks that, I don't know, I can't ping that ip, but I can get the server status from a server browser.

as you can see I can't ping it but from a server browser I can see who is playing there, etc.

edit2:

you should try to do a traceroute (tracert 178.63.72.133), and see where it slows down, maybe it is a problem from your isp.

Well, i know my connection is shit since we changed to imagenio, so i have to share connection (internet adsl + imagenio) when imagenio is running, i lag badly (not always)... but i also know that server is lagging when gets full. Everyone gets lag. Like i told to daredevil, in the morning or in the night, server not lag (few ppl on) but in the afternoon/evening is almost unplayable. My 130 ping usually jumps to 250 or even 300...and its not only my problem, but rest players also.

ok, so 192.168.1.1 is probably your router, 192.168.153.1 is maybe your internet provider,

so you can try to:

ping -t 192.168.153.1 (or the 1st ip after your router, I don't know if it changes or not)

to see if it's always around 40ms or if it lags. If it lags, then there isn't much you can do from the game...

when the noquarter 1.2.3 server is full, it has an awesome lag.

may be we have to update the server to ET: 2.60b this patch reduces the lag, and update the mod to nq 1.2.7 or lastest nq 1.2.9 too because some bugs are fixed and it and produces less lag.

yes i know that many players in that server use 2.55 version but we can make announcements in the server and in the forum for a month to invite them to update their ET because we will update our server.

the noquarter mod never was mod to play for play too many people. i think that the server will be for 30 players with 5 private slots= 30/35

1. Server blocks ICMP pings and hence 100% packet loss on last hope and thats perfectly fine.

2. Run WinMTR using admin. Save the output has html and upload it here.

3. New NQ 1.3.0 is supposed to fix tons of lag issue but issue is most of regulars don't have 2.6b. Make them all patch to 2.6b.

4. The weblink ping/trace router is useless because it doesn't check your routing. Ex. Blade gets tons of packet loss on his modem.

I get only 3% packet loss and I guess that good enough for me. It's like:

My ISP - 3rd Party - Server network

I get 3% loss at 3rd Party and in that host can't do much either.

Note: This 3% is just one time and not continuous.

With your reply I am assuming you mean that's just my connection problem ... which is not true at all, but a problem of both, server + my connection. As I said above, not only I have this problem, if no one else posted about the lag on the server can not do much more.

1. Network problem your side.

I also gived you another 2 IP's. They both avg 25% loss in packets at .telefonica-wholesale.net. I guess the routing of Spain to both datacenters, one in France and one in Germany is bad. Overall we tested your connection on 3 IP's.

Your PC - Germany (ours) - Avg 25% packet loss.

Your PC - Germany (other clan server IP and different data center) - Appx 25% packet loss.

Your PC - France - Appx 25% packet loss.

2. Mod issue = Every one but mod issues for you get worse because of your ISP 20-30% packet loss.

After 30 players+ mod issue kicks in and with your 30% packet loss because of spain ISP it gets worse.

I will show you my lagometer screenshot over the weekend with full players.

I would strongly suggest, start telling all to update there client to 2.6b. I have been thinking to update NQ to 1.3.0 when it's released.

I will also update banners tonight.
