2015, man what a funky year..

Posted by Chameleon, 19 January 2016 · 1,705 views

2015 for me, was probably the craziest year I have had in the 42 years I have been on this planet. As some may or may not have noticed, I was absent most of last year. This was due to a massive heart attack and the subsequent quadruple bypass surgery. Well I was fortunate enough to beat that monster and survive with quite a long recovery. I'm not sure of the time table, but sometime during recovery I am diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. For those of you who don't know what that really means here is a link to kind of describe http://www.webmd.com...e-heart-failure

So with all the Dr. appointments, and more than anything, my failing health, I spent far less time on the forums and servers last year. I took almost all of last year to get a grip on my situation, even moving back closer to my family, realizing your mortality has a way of bringing you home. It took me a while to come to grips with everything and more than likely don't have enough of a grip as I should.

I tried to focus more on friends and family than I had, spending more time in real life than with gaming, plus staying well long enough to get through COD match was an issue. Sitting behind my desk required more energy than I had at the time. It wasn't that I didn't want to be here with everyone, I just didn't have the strength to do so.

A couple months ago I started some new meds, a new diet and also found out that the reason I was unable to control my diabetes was because I was insulin resistant. I didn't even think such a thing was possible. My body wasn't absorbing the insulin I was taking, so my Endocrinologist put me on a new med that helps my body absorb the insulin and finally I am seeing good numbers.

With these new meds for my diabetes, neuropathy and CHF (Also diet and exercise) I started to feel better, and become more active. Things have been better the past couple of months, I have gotten some gaming under my belt and been on the forums again. I have tried a few times in the recent past, but was unable to maintain because of my health, but I hope things are different this time.

I have missed everyone here greatly, and missed all the fun on the servers and I hope for now I am able to continue to be a part of this awesome community for as long as possible. I have made some incredible friends here and I hope to make more.

Hopefully 2016 will be a much better year, so far so good :D

Welcome back dude once again! :)
Yeah..was wondering about you after your recent health stats..my sister lifelong diabetes.. I think became insulin resistant.think they switched her to metformin I think(I don't speak to her much) which is what I take for type2 1000mg 2 x a day..yeah feeling my mortality too...had to stop work because i could not sit or even lay down without pain..had mri not bad enough problems to operate..just overall spine condition and too much driving and sitting..getting better because I'm able to exercise every day..walking is best..oh I still ride bike take boat out for cruise..in pain rather i lay down or do someting..so i choose to do! take clorazepate and drink wine..not a lot :).. to me getting old is a part of life..I had my time...I see people living new life..children playing..young lovers showing affection in public..stupid stuff people do..been there..my life is family and tinkering around..try to enjoy myself stay busy...or stay in and get high sleep play ET..watch TV..hope you able to find your niche..I'm happy

Getting old is a trip that is for sure.  Mortality is a crazy thing, when I was younger I never really thought about it, but as I get older it seems it is all I can think about.  Like you, I just try to enjoy the good days and fight through the bad ones, there's not much we can do about it, but we can try our best to enjoy what we have.  Hope things start looking up for you :D

Reading your blog again, made me happy.
I am glad you feel better, and that you decided to write something here again to let us know how you are doing these days.
You have been missed.

Earlier I called 2014 for Annus Horriblis, but I was wrong, so wrong!
2015 was even worse! So I think we can agree on that 2015 is behind us, and that we make 2016 a much better year for all of us.

Wishing you all the best!
And it´s good to have you back!

Thanks so much for the kind words, believe it or not, it really means a lot to me..  2015 is gone, and I am putting all my hope in 2016..  So far, so good :D

Check with Ayurveda. In some case Allopathic medicines have failed to provide good results on consistent basis. I will send you some more info in PM.

Yes some people can't absorb insulin. I have seen that happening before.

Thank you so much :D

But seriously, welcome back and I'm very glad you're alright!

Hey man, I wasn't aware of your health condition throughout 2015, no wonder why I didn't saw you on forums like before. I hope that things get better for you my friend and let's make 2016 a crazier year than 2015, but in a good way.

In the end, you can count on your friends for everything right?

Cheers

Sounds like a rich history! After your rehabilitation, make sure you keep on walking/cycling!

The neuropathy doesn't help at all, does it :(
